| Design
Assistance |
Working with
the project designers during the schematic and design development
phases to determine and develop acoustical design requirements,
criteria, building, orientations and other site planning considerations,
space planning, detailing, facade design, etc. |
| Contract Document
Review |
Reviewing
contract documents to ensure that the recommended acoustical design
provisions have been correctly incorporated into working drawings
and specifications. |
| Site
Review |
Reviewing projects
during construction to ensure that the acoustical control items,
materials, and details are accomplished as intended. |
| Room
Acoustics |
Reviewing room
geometry and selecting materials to ensure an optimum acoustical
environment for diverse types of interior spaces. |
| Criteria
Development |
Developing noise and
vibration criteria to achieve an acoustical environment appropriate
for each project. |
| Open Plan
Spaces |
Designing open
plan spaces, including work station layout and orientation, finish
materials, acoustical screens and furnishings, and background
noise levels, to achieve the required degree of speech privacy
and comfort for each project. |
| Sound
Insulation |
Designing, measuring,
and evaluating sound isolating details, materials, and construction
systems to achieve the appropriate degree of sound insulation from
exterior and interior noise sources. |
| Mechanical
Equipment |
Developing
and reviewing design recommendations for mechanical equipment,
plumbing, and service systems to reduce or eliminate building
noise and vibration problems. |
| Measurements |
Measuring all acoustical
and acoustically related quantities, such as Reverberation Time (RT), Sound Transmission Class
(STC), Impact Insulation Class (IIC), background noise levels, community noise
(CNEL, Ldn, etc.),
and building vibration levels. |
| Title 24 |
Conducting noise studies, drawing
reviews, and providing recommendations to meet California Building Code
Title 24 requirements for building sound insulation from exterior noise
and sound and impact insulation between occupied units. |
